Dr. MacNeal was a founding partner of the MacNeal-Schwendler Corporation (today called MSC.Software Corporation). His technical career encompasses state-of-the-art advances in numerous technologies including digital and analog techniques; airplane, helicopter, spacecraft and missile dynamics, and structural analysis. Dr. MacNeal developed most of the mathematical techniques and structural analysis procedures basic to the capabilities of the MSC/NASTRAN® computer program. He has more than 80 published technical papers and is widely recognized for his development of the Quad4 element, component mode synthesis and test criteria for testing finite elements. In May of 2000 Dr. MacNeal co-founded Schaeffer Automated Simulation, LLC, and directed a development effort that produced a NASTRAN product that was marketed under the name AI*NASTRAN®. More recently Dr. MacNeal was a founding member of The MacNeal Group, LLC, whose mission is to be "the supplier of advanced technology to engineers to ensure their mastery over product design simulation through the 21st Century".
Dr. Harry G. Schaeffer - President, Founder
Dr. Schaeffer is a noted expert in computational structural mechanics. He has been active as the developer of a commercial version of NASTRAN since 1985. He also wrote the original MSC/NASTRAN Primer in 1975 and collaborated with MSC Software to publish a new edition in the Summer of 2001. He spent a sabbatical year, 1997-1998 at the NASA Langley Research Center and participated in the Intellegent Synthesis Environment (ISE) developments in the Computational Structures Branch. In May of 2000 Dr. Schaeffer co-founded Schaeffer Automated Simulation, LLC, and managed a development effort that produced a NASTRAN product that was marketed under the name AI*NASTRAN®.
