Product Description
NASTRAN-LD has been created for the CAE professional who needs easy and affordable access to the power, reliability and flexibility of a true NASTRAN® system for performing linear static, linear buckling, normal modes, and dynamic response analyses. This product is ideally suited for engineers who need individual access to NASTRAN capabilities without having to wait for expensive corporate NASTRAN resources to be freed up. And the NASTRAN-LD product is a perfect fit for professionals who want to have their own NASTRAN system for consulting projects or work that would be convenient to carry home on a laptop computer.
Rich in Function and Features
NASTRAN-LD has been designed to run just like the “Big Boys” of the NASTRAN world. It’s not a look-alike NASTRAN emulator product; it’s the real thing, based on a “true” NASTRAN architecture with scalable matrix operations. The look, feel and use are like any other real NASTRAN product. Input and output formats are compatible and the system can be used in conjunction with most of the popular FE pre- and post- processors on the market today. A full range of modeling tools (grids, elements, constraint elements, material properties, loads, constraints), eigensolvers and solution controls are part of NASTRAN-LD. And as an added benefit new and unique finite element technologies and solvers have been included to make sure that you are getting the best results in the shortest amount of time.
The Flexibility of DMAP
No need for you to have to compromise the use of DMAP that is important to many serious NASTRAN applications. NASTRAN-LD includes the ability to use DMAP. You have the freedom and flexibility within the discipline range covered by NASTRAN-LD to use standard DMAP sequences, modify them, or develop your very own.
NASTRAN-LD Capability Range
NASTRAN-LD is designed to perform linear static, buckling, normal modes, and dynamic response analyses. And NASTRAN-LD is capable of solving models that range from small to very large.
NASTRAN-LD includes:
  • All of the NASTRAN features and functions users associated with linear static, buckling, normal modes and dynamic analyses. Dynamic analyses include both the modal and direct formulations.
  • Support of EPOINT, Transfer functions and DMIG input for non structural applications
  • New HEXA, PENTA and TETRA elements based on Dr. Richard H. MacNeal’s latest element formulations
  • Bushing element and Linear Gap
  • Automatic calculation of BAR and BEAM properties based on user input dimensions, including AISC properties
  • K6ROT for shell normal rotations
  • Automated algorithm for processing MPC that removes the worries associated with selecting the dependent degrees of freedom
  • Modal effective mass
  • Identification and display of mechanisms detected during static analysis as an alternative to the use of the meaningless message issued concerning the ratio of diagonal to factor diagonal. The mechanisms are available as eigenvectors that can be displayed by a post processing program.
  • Lanczos method for extracting eigenvectors and eigenvalues.
  • Residual vectors
  • User control of specific modes included in the modal dynamic response solutions
  • User control of cutoff frequency
  • Grid Point Kinetic Energy
  • Grid Point Energy Loss
  • Spatial dynamic load distribution can be specified by static load descriptions including concentrated forces such as FORCE and MOMENT and distributed loads such as PLOAD1, PLOAD2 and PLOAD4
  • All DMAP modules appropriate for linear static analysis including inertial relief and differential stiffness, eigenvalue analysis, transient response and frequency response analyses
  • The DMAP compiler that allows the user to create DMAP programs or alter the DMAP programs delivered with NASTRAN-LD, commensurate with the DMAP modules appropriate for this product.
  • NASTRAN import and export operations that support industry-standard pre and post processors
  • Import and export of matrices in MATLAB-compatible Boeing Harwell format
  • State of the art sparse matrix solvers
  • Structural and XY Plots

NASTRAN-LD Support Program
The NASTRAN-LD support program has been designed to offer a cost-effective way to obtain expert and responsive product support. There’s no need to pay annual lease fees or recurring annual maintenance fees to get high quality support. Get just the level of support you need through the convenient NASTRAN L-Series E-Support program. Each NASTRAN L-Series product comes with three L-Series E-Support certificates. This is generally more than enough to get the user who is familiar with NASTRAN all they need to begin and continue to experience the power and convenience offered by NASTRAN L-Series products. And for the less experienced user, the L-Series E-Support program offers the comfort of paying for only the level of support required. Each E-Support certificate entitles the bearer to get support for one support incident. Additional L-Series E-Support certificates are available for purchase at the tMG E-Store.
NASTRAN-LD Documentation
The NASTRAN-LD product delivery includes a comprehensive set of documentation that provides descriptions of the features and functions of NASTRAN-LD. These documents are written in a standard NASTRAN user documentation format and are intended to guide both the novice and expert user through the successful application of the NASTRAN-LD software. The documentation set, which is delivered in PDF format, includes:
  • The NASTRAN L-Series Users Reference Manual
  • The NASTRAN L-Series DMAP Reference Manual
  • Guide to Static and Normal Modes Analyses Using NASTRAN L-Series
  • Guide to Dynamic Analyses Using NASTRAN L-Series
Other Terms and Conditions
  • The purchase and use of NASTRAN L-Series products requires execution of a NASTRAN L-Series Product License Agreement. This agreement is available for review by clicking-here. The NASTRAN L-Series Product License Agreement is a click-wrapped agreement that must be accepted at time of product download and at the time of product installation in order for a product to be downloaded and used.
  • An L-Series product license is for a single computer. As part of the ordering process you will be required to submit your computer hardware identification information so it can be used to create a license file that will allow you to access your NASTRAN L-Series product on your computer.
  • The product licenses for a NASTRAN L-Series product are for a period of fifteen years.
  • The problem size capacity of NASTRAN L-Series products is six-hundred thousand degrees of freedom.
  • NASTRAN L-Series E-Support is an email-based support system. One L-Series E-Support certificate is redeemable for one L-Series product support incident. One L-Series support incident is defined as the process of supplying a resolution to one customer support request for one customer problem. The charge for one L-Series E-Support certificate is $50. L-Series E-Support certificates are redeemable only for L-Series product support and are not refundable for any monetary value or exchangeable for any other service.
  • L-Series product upgrade from one product price level to the next price level is $1500 and must be licensed for the same hardware.
  • L-Series product updates may be issued from time to time and be made available for an additional charge.
  • A transfer of an L-Series product from one computer to another computer is available only for one transfer per year and at a charge of $100 per transfer.
